The Executive Committee of the English Radical Alliance extended a 'Good Luck' message to the England football team as they prepared to face the USA in their opening match of the 2010 World Cup.
At the same time a message has been sent to the people of England stating that as a country England needs support off the pitch as well, and now is the time to examine how the freedom of England is being lost.

SPRING - EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ONLINE MEETING
The forthcoming General Election was the key topic of the Spring meeting. Pre-General Election announcement  activity was mentioned including the distribution of the ERA 'What Difference Does it Make' leaflet. The intention to stand in Liverpool Wavertree was again discussed. The selected candidate since his decision to stand had unfortunately now found himself with increasing work commitments, as had other activists, plus one member of the EC had also undergone heart bypass surgery. This meant we would struggle to give the campaign the time it fully deserved and the £500 deposit would be wasted. Therefore the decison was taken not to contest any seat at the forthcoming General Election.
Opinion was that the General Election campaign as a whole had become a soap opera, with personalities and spin rather than politics and the interests of the people at the centre of things for the parties. ERA was stil proud to stand outside this charade.
St. George's Day and England as a whole was discussed. Members agreed ERA was an 'Action' party for England and truly committed not to flag waving but delivering a new, independent, free English nation, free of external interfering influences and the entrapment of its working population through capitalism and socialism.
Small businesses and the decline of local shops was discussed with ERA announcing it would be a friend to these battered sections of the economy and demonstrate how our distributist ideology and economic protectionist policies would benefit such businesses.
Interest in the party continues to grow and the EC praised the efforts of individuals who have leafletted their communities and submitted letters for publication to local newspapers.

Saturday February 13th: ERA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING - WORCESTER
The Executive Committee (EC) was saddened to hear of the continuing health problems being suffered by co-founder David Owens and extended their best wishes to him.

General Election: It was decided to contest just the one constituency at the forthcoming General Election, that being Liverpool Wavertree.  With the party being less than one year old it was felt we should concentrate our efforts on Wavertree where the party has a presence in the community. Members and supporters from elsewhere would be welcome to assist in the campaign, hopefully learning something from the experience which they can take back to their own constituencies for future electoral contests. Dave Brennan was confirmed as the ERA candidate. The question of should we compete against other English parties was raised. It was felt that ERA are completely different from  ALL other political parties and offer a real alternative in the shape of independence and distributism instead of unionism and capitalism as well as socialism. It was agreed that with these major differencse ERA should compete against all other parties, with Liverpool Wavertree the first step on our electoral journey. Aspects of the campaign were discussed along with funding for this and future elections.

Membership  and donations: The EC decided to change the Direct Debit payment system for membership and donations in favour of a standing order system.

E-Bay shop: The EC is to look into establishing an English Radicals shop on e-bay. The shop will sell ERA publications and also other items in order to raise funds for the party.

English Radical: The next issue of the party journal ‘English Radical’, will now be released in the summer, allowing the party to concentrate on election material. The party will still continue to release its monthly bulletin to members. The production of other publications was also discussed.

Membership and progress of the party: The EC was pleased with the progress the party had made and the general interest it was receiving. With the party contesting what will be a high profile seat at the General Election, further interest in the party is anticipated.

Economic Situation in Greece: The present economic plight of Greece was discussed. It was felt that even though England is not part of the Euro Zone group of countries, the English taxpayer would still pay a price indirectly to prop up failing economies of EU nations.

December 22nd 2009: ERA ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST PPC
The Executive Committee of English Radical Alliance have agreed to put forward a candidate to contest the seat of Liverpool (Wavertree) in the forthcoming General Election. Long term Wavertree resident, Dave Brennan, was selected as the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate with the full backing of the Merseyside Branch. The only proviso the EC submitted was that if the election is called significantly earlier than May 2010, as ERA is a young party we may not be able to fully prepare our campaign, and so we may hold off until another opportunity presents itself. Initially ERA had intended to concentrate on local elections during 2010, but the party has made significant progress since its formation and has a strong branch now established in the constuency. The EC feel participating in all elections where the party has a strong base is now the way forward. It urges party activists in all areas to promote the party to their best ability in 2010 in a bid to establish more strong branches across the country.

November 22nd 2009: ERA COMMITS ITSELF TO BEING THE 'REAL' PARTY OF ENGLAND
The monthly online EC meeting of the English Radical Alliance was held today. It was decided that with the next official EC meeting scheduled for January 2010 the party should make a new years resolution to being the REAL party of England. ERA will therefore reaffirm its commitment to represent all the people of England, regardless of race or religion at the January EC meeting. The EC stressed that English political parties should work towards uniting the nation and not dividing it. It was felt division could turn England into another Bosnia with civil war and pockets of extremists carrying out ethnic cleansing. Whilst being protective and respecting English culture the EC felt an independent England will need people from all backgrounds to unite and help build a new, radical country for the future prosperity of our nation.

October 24th 2009: EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING IN BRISTOL
The first Executive Committee (EC) meeting since the formation of the English Radical Alliance (ERA) was held in Bristol on October 24th.

The meeting proved to be very positive and productive. It was reported that there had been an increase in party membership and a large number of general enquiries received since ERA’s inception.  In addition to this the party bank accounts showed that ERA was on a financially sound footing. It was generally agreed the party had come a long way in three short months, with it now being registered with the Electoral Commission, having both national and local websites online, owning its own printing facility and having our own journal soon to be published and available by mail order or subscription. It was also felt the tide of English independence was turning in favour of the English Radical Alliance, as potential members had commented that Scotland had the SNP, Wales Plaid Cymru and until now all England had was imitation Tory parties representing the English cause.

The present postal dispute was discussed, with the Executive Committee pledging its support to those fighting to prevent the Royal Mail from being privatised and falling into foreign ownership. It was felt that any attempts to stop early morning deliveries or charge an extra fee for them would be detrimental to the economy and especially small businesses. It was stressed that the Royal Mail is a postal SERVICE, just like the HEALTH SERVICE or the ARMED SERVICES. No price can be put on such services, as this is exactly what they are – a service for the nation. The Executive Committee also opposed proposals for privatising training of the armed services and firmly stated this must stay in the hands of the Ministry of Defence.

Other issues discussed were public services, the EU, England’s fishing policy, education, modernising the trade union movement, Anglo-Saxon heritage and how the National Income Scheme will replace the present benefit system. As well as these items the Executive Committee emphasised the distributist alternative of the English Radical Alliance with proposals for introducing local banks, building societies and guilds.

Party development received attention, with plans unveiled to launch regional party websites for Devon, Yorkshire, the North West and possibly Mercia over the coming weeks. This follows the successful launch of the Merseyside ERA and Wessex ERA websites. Plans were also discussed for training modules for ERA officials and candidates as well as those that wish to progress in the party. Further party development through social, cultural and historically linked activities was debated and relevant plans made.

On the whole the Executive Committee of the English Radical Alliance was delighted with the progress the party had made and a successful first EC meeting. Provisional plans for the next EC meeting have been made for mid to late January 2010.
